On 28 May 2022, the new information obligation for online retailers who display product reviews from consumers on their websites came into force. From now on, retailers must provide information on whether and, if so, how they ensure that the reviews only come from consumers who have actually purchased the rated products.
What do we at Jean&Len do to fulfil the requirements?
Since 28 May 2022, every consumer review has been checked for authenticity before publication to ensure that reviews only come from consumers who have actually purchased/used the products reviewed.
The review is checked manually by comparing the review with the order history of our online shop in order to make a previous product purchase a necessary condition for publication.
Or, by sending individualised links to consumers after completion of an online order, which lead to an online evaluation form and which ensure that access to the evaluation function is only granted to those consumers who have actually purchased a product.
What about valuations before 28 May 2022?
The reviews prior to 28 May 2022 were not checked for authenticity before publication. They may therefore originate from consumers who have not actually purchased/used the rated products.
